“A layered and juicy red with currant, cedar, and some walnut character. It’s full and savory with lovely fruit and real Chianti Classico character in the undertones of mushrooms and bark.”

“Black cherries, figs, tar, and a final herbaceous element that moves from sage to eucalyptus on the nose develop into a palate of more cherries with the essence of orange peel, with an overall buoyancy provided by easygoing tannins and a streak of acidity.”

“The 2020 Chianti Classico is a bold, juicy wine to drink now and over the next few years. Sweet red cherry, tobacco, incense, and dried flowers lend quite a bit of immediacy. All this needs is more persistence.”

“Deep, lustrous ruby with orange tinges. Pure cherry nose with a hint of black earth. Concentrated, compact cherry fruit on the palate that still needs to unfurl, and with lots of juicy tannins. Richly tannic on the finish but without overpowering the fruit. Has all the building blocks to age gracefully.”

“Made with organically farmed Sangiovese, this medium-bodied red has aromas of forest floor, wild berries, camphor, and new leather. The savory, elegantly structured palate doles out juicy black cherry, crushed raspberry, and licorice as well as a cool smoky note that adds nuance.”

“A chunky style, this red evokes a core of cherry and raspberry, accented by Tuscan herbs, tobacco, and earth. Firmly structured, yet stays fresh and long on the finish.”

"A lively Chianti Classico with aromas and flavors of black cherries, as well as some sour-cherry and burnt lemon notes. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins and a fresh, vivid finish. Just the right amount of bitterness at the end."

"The Castello di Bossi 2018 Chianti Classico shows some ripe fruit and prune alongside dried cherry or raspberry Jolly Rancher. The wine is lean and compact, with nice freshness and verve that show with typical Sangiovese character. The wine is certainly not designed for big complexity or depth. Simplicity of delivery and ease are the big takeaways here, perfect for a family lasagna night."

"This is very pretty with violets, cranberries, dark plums, and spices. Full body, plenty of attractive, firm tannins, and a juicy, minerally finish."

"The 2017 Chianti Classico is a terrific choice for readers looking for a wine to drink now. Sweet dried cherry, crushed flowers, cinnamon, and a hint of orange peel are the signatures of a wine that is already starting to show a good deal of aromatic complexity. Even so, there is still a good bit of acidity keeping the flavors vibrant. Soft contours add to the wine’s considerable appeal. The 2017 is not the last word in complexity, but it is fruity, supple, and very delicious. I would prefer to drink it sooner rather than later."

"Aromas of wild berry, iris, and botanical herb lead the nose. On the chewy, accessible palate, supple tannins accompany ripe Marasca cherry, ripe plum, and baking spice."

"There is some good richness to this Chianti Classico with blackberries, nutmeg, hazelnuts, and a touch of spices and Christmas cake. Full body, ripe and round tannins, zesty acidity, and a medium to long finish."
88 Pointz Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
"From Castelnuovo Berardenga in the southern part of this celebrated Tuscan wine appellation, the 2016 Chianti Classico is a deep and penetrating wine from an excellent vintage. This expression shows thick fiber and dense blackberry flavor with plum, prune, and cassis. It exhibits inky, tarry intensity. The mouthfeel shows dry, dusty tannins for immediate drinking….The retail price is a steal."
88 Pointz Wine Spectator
"Black cherry and blackberry flavors are accented by wild herb notes. Mineral and tobacco accents chime in as the firm finish unfolds."

"Mid ruby. Appealing nose of ripe cherry and oatmeal. Quite firm but well-built and tasty tannins lining aromatic cherry fruit. Long and quite powerfully structured. I would wait another year before approaching this."

"The Castello di Bossi 2013 Chianti Classico plays its cards close to its chest. It embodies the delicate and polished side of Sangiovese without the extra distractions that come with over extraction or abundant oak. This wine speaks of the vintage and the grapes. Delicate notes of tar and smoke rise above wild berry and cherry aromas. This is great choice at an amazing low price."

"2013 Castello di Bossi’s Chianti Classico is a bit light in this vintage. Sweet tobacco, licorice, herbs, and dried cherries are laced together nicely in a delicate, silky Chianti Classico that is already quite expressive. The aromatics are a touch forward and the wine is a bit lacking in the mid-palate, so I would prefer to drink it sooner rather than later."

"Forest floor, porcini mushroom, violet, and a whiff of chopped herbs lead the nose on this simple red. The straightforward palate is on the thin side, offering red cherry, a suggestion of clove, and a hint of game alongside relaxed, loose-knit tannins."

"Fresh red fruits and berries with minerals and stone on nose. Shiitake mushroom and cocoa with soft tannins on the palate. Fresh finish with good finesse. Drink now."

"Here is an easy-drinking wine from Castello di Bossi. The 2012 Chianti Classico exhibits a thin style with a few points of sharpness and thorniness. The bouquet offers moderate intensity with wild berry, forest bramble, cranberry, and white cherry. This wine does not deliver the roundness nor the intensity of past vintages."

"Aromas of toasted oak, plum, menthol, and crushed violet open on the nose. The palate offers dried black cherry, licorice, leather, chopped sage, and espresso alongside firm, fine-grained tannins."

"Sweet tobacco, licorice, cedar, and dried cherries are some of the notes found in the 2012 Chianti Classico. I expect the 2012 will drink at its best early, as the flavors are a bit forward and roasted, the signatures of a scorching-hot year."

"Coffee and underbrush aromas complicate redcurrant and sour red cherry on the bright, perfumed nose. Moderately dense and chewy on the palate, with flavors of blackcurrant, red cherry, and herbs. Finishes with mounting tannins and moderate length."
88 Pointz Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
"With simple and clean lines, the 2011 Chianti Classico is redolent of bright cherry, blackberry, and dried cassis. There's a ripe element to the bouquet that comes thanks to the vintage heat and the thicker soils of the Castelnuovo Berardenga growing area in the southern part of the Chianti Classico appellation. The finish is soft and luscious with a slightly chewy quality to the tannins."

"A savory wine with rich tomato and fennel flavors, this is made for sipping by a roaring fire with a loaf of peasant bread and some fennel salami."

"This reflects the intense heat of the vintage, showing mature berry and plum aromas with toasted notes. The palate is warm and shows ripe – nearly overripe – black-cherry, chocolate, espresso, and spice flavors. It closes with astringent tannins."

"The 2010 Chianti Classico is an elegantly crafted wine with impeccably balanced tones of red cherry, spice, mild coffee, and leather that play off each other in an expertly choreographed dance. It’s a young, firm wine that shows great energy."

"Black currant, herb, and cedar notes lead off, while cherry and tobacco reveal more typical Chianti flavors. The dusty tannins hold court on the finish."
